Make Smarter Bets with Proven Baccarat Approaches
While baccarat is fundamentally a game of chance, understanding the odds, house edges, and sound bankroll management principles can significantly enhance your overall experience at SA Gaming's live baccarat tables.
Understanding the Odds
Banker Bet – The Best Value Wager
The Banker bet carries the lowest house edge of approximately 1.06%, making it statistically the most favourable wager at any baccarat table. SA Gaming's No Commission variant eliminates the 5% commission, returning a full 1:1 payout on all Banker wins except when the Banker wins with six.
Player Bet – A Close Second
The Player bet has a house edge of around 1.24% — marginally higher than the Banker but still among the best odds available in any casino game. No commission is applied to Player wins.
Tie Bet – High Reward, High Risk
The Tie bet offers an attractive 8:1 payout but carries a house edge exceeding 14%. Most experienced baccarat players avoid the Tie bet as a primary strategy.
Reading the SA Gaming Roadmaps
Big Road
The Big Road is the most commonly used baccarat scorecard. It tracks the results of each round in columns, with Banker wins shown in one colour and Player wins in another. Ties and pairs are marked separately.
Bead Plate
The Bead Plate records results sequentially from top to bottom, left to right. It provides a quick overview of the most recent rounds without the column-switching structure of the Big Road.
Small Road, Big Eye Boy & Cockroach Pig
These three derived roads analyse patterns in the Big Road to identify perceived streaks and chops. SA Gaming displays all five roadmaps simultaneously, allowing players to apply their preferred pattern-recognition strategy.
Bankroll Management for SA Gaming Baccarat
Set a Session Budget
Decide on a fixed amount to spend per session before you begin. SA Gaming tables accept bets from as low as €1, making it easy to play within any budget.
Use Flat Betting
Flat betting — wagering the same amount each round — is widely regarded as the most sustainable baccarat approach. It reduces variance and extends your playing time compared to progressive betting systems.
Avoid Chasing Losses
If your session budget is exhausted, end the session. Attempting to recover losses by increasing bet sizes is the single most common cause of large bankroll depletion in baccarat.
